The Foghorn Interval
Every ninety seconds, the harbor horn sounds. Tonight it leaves a gap: two long calls, one short, then silence long enough for the room to feel enormous.
The pattern matches the three tones from Buoy 17. We switch to the backup microphone and open the phone line. The first caller is a child asking whether we can hear the letters from the dark.
