The Lighthouse Keeper Calls
Keeper Vale speaks slowly, as though someone is asleep beside the telephone. A light has been circling the lighthouse foundation since midnight. It never rises above the waterline.
We ask whether it could be a boat. Vale says boats have wakes. This has none. Before hanging up, she asks us to replay the weather window and listen for the missing word.
