Textile Showcase

A rendered demonstration of Rotkeeper's Textile support: headings, emphasis, links, lists, blockquotes, and the documented literal fallbacks — this page is itself a .textile source.

🏺 The Textile Showcase

This page is a .textile source file rendered by Oliver, end to end through the Rotkeeper pipeline — same frontmatter, same template, same .html fate as its markdown neighbors, but every word below was written in Textile. The Textile Formatting Guide explains each feature and its boundaries; this page simply shows the ritual working.

Headings and emphasis

Every heading on this page — from this one down — is a “h2.” marker, and the title above is “h1.”. Strength and slant come cheap: bold for shouting, italic for whispers, strikethrough for the disowned, underline for the inscribed. They nest: bold italics and the other way and even nested double depth.

Links and images

Reader, it links. An internal link trailing a pointed .textile extension is rewritten to .html at render — the hunted extension becomes the tombstone path. Bare URLs, no ceremony: https://opencode.ai

Images are exclamation-marked URLs:

Words in rows

The dead belong in lists. Unnumbered:

  • the bones
  • the blood
    • the marrow beneath
  • the rot

Numbered, for ritual order:

  1. first the coffin
  2. then the nails
    1. the inner nails
    2. the outer nails
  3. then forgiveness

Voices from beyond

The blockquote carries ornamented testimony from those who render no more.

Both tongues in one directory

Textile and Markdown pages coexist in this very folder. The Oliver Renderer Contract page — a .md source — sits beside this .textile one, and they link to each other across the boundary. Which tongue you pick per page is a choice, not a regime: the text is the message, the format is just the mouth it speaks through.

The tongue does gate the table though. Markdown here renders GFM tables; the Textile table syntax |.below|.does|_.not| — it survives only as literal text, as does the bc. code block and the fn1. footnote. The Textile Formatting Guide keeps the ledger of what must stay literal; this page ends where that one begins.
